The Africa Reproductive Justice Litigation Academy
Nurturing multidisciplinary professionals for reproductive justice litigation in Africa
ABOUT THE ACADEMY
The Africa Reproductive Justice Litigation Academy is a specialised centre dedicated to strengthening reproductive justice litigation across the continent. It was established in response to a persistent gap: although the need for progressive sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) laws and policies in Africa is undeniable, there are limited structured opportunities for legal professionals to develop the practical, strategic expertise required to advance reproductive justice through the courts.
The Academy addresses this gap by equipping litigants, scholars, judicial officers, activists, and researchers with the knowledge, skills, and strategic capacity necessary to pursue transformative litigation. It serves as a continental hub where theory meets practice, and where reproductive justice is understood not only as a legal framework, but as a lived and contextual reality. Through accredited academic programmes, customised professional training, structured mentorship and fellowship pathways, and a dedicated ideation hub, the Academy is building a new generation of practitioners grounded in African realities and committed to advancing justice.
