Ina Kafunda

Fellow

Ina Kafunda is a Public Health Specialist and Lawyer, from the Republic of Zambia. She has experience in implementing public health programs, where she has made significant contributions to initiatives funded by prominent organizations like USAID, CDC, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, focusing on critical areas such as HIV/AIDS, Malaria, TB, and Reproductive Health. Ina holds a master’s degree in public health – Health Policy and Management, and she is currently pursuing a Master of Law in National and Global Health Law at Georgetown University. Driven by her passion for the intersection of Public Health and Law, Ina is committed to positively impacting various domains, including Global Health, Policy Development, Reproductive Health for Women and Adolescents, Health System Strengthening, and Universal Health Coverage.

Throughout her illustrious career, Ina has honed her expertise in Public Health, Global Health Law, Program and Grant Management, Health Policy, and Human Rights, particularly in supporting Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) in the sub-Saharan region. She has spearheaded technical assistance and direct service delivery programs as a key partner of the CDC and USAID in Zambia. Ina is actively engaged in fostering collaboration with partner organizations and government stakeholders, providing invaluable insights, strategic guidance, advocacy efforts, and participating in National Technical Working groups.

With an overarching goal of driving meaningful change for marginalized populations within the global health and health law sectors, Ina is currently working at the O’Neill Institute of National and Global Health Law as a Research Assistant, contributing to research focused on the Right to Health and Reproductive Health Rights.
