Situated at the intersection of Afya na Haki and the Ahaki Institute, UTT addresses the systemic exclusion of African perspectives, evidence, and leadership in global health. By drawing on local knowledge and contextual insights, it amplifies African voices and ensures that the policies and
Practices of global health reflect the unique historical, cultural, and structural realities of African communities.

UTT’s mandate is expressed through four interlinked thematic areas: Reproductive Justice; Health Technologies and Digital Justice; Governance of Complex Health Emergencies; and Health, Trade and Economics. Within these domains, UTT actively contributes to the realization of Agenda 2063 by advancing scholarship and praxis in Global Mental Health, Maternal Health Policy, Global Health Justice, Access to Medicines, Digital Health, and Climate Justice -fields central to transforming health equity and social justice in Africa and beyond.
