
Vivian Serwanjja
Vivian Serwanjja is a seasoned journalist and advocate for women’s rights and media development.
As the Executive Director of the African Centre for Women in Journalism (ACWJ), she has dedicated her career to promoting gender equality and empowering women in the media industry.
With extensive experience in journalism and communication, Vivian has worked tirelessly to advance the rights of women and girls, particularly in the areas of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Her work has been instrumental in shaping the media landscape and promoting more inclusive and equitable reporting practices.
She holds a Master’s degree in Journalism and Media Studies from Uganda Christian University.
She has served as a news reporter and editor with Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) Television, PR Manager at AYA group, Advocacy and Communications Manager at the Centre for Health Human Rights and Development (CEHURD), Public Relations Officer and official spokesperson at the Ministry of Health, Head of Strategic Communication at the Uganda National Health Laboratory and Diagnostics Department, Head of strategic Communications at the Microfinance Support Centre, Communications, Behavioral Change and Demand Generation expert at Baylor Uganda and Lead Consultant at Charter Communications Limited.
Through her leadership, ACWJ has become a prominent voice in the region, providing critical support to female journalists to amplify women’s voices.
