Gentile Christelle Tchenou
Christelle is a human rights lawyer and Research Fellow at the Afya na Haki Institute. She holds a Master’s degree in Human Rights and is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Sexual and Reproductive Health at the Institute, where she continues to strengthen her expertise at the intersection of law, Africentrism, public health, and reproductive justice.
She is described as being deeply grounded in African traditional values and committed to an Africa that draws from its cultural heritage to build just, inclusive, and people-centred legal systems. Her work reflects a strong intolerance for social injustice and a sustained dedication to advancing equitable access to justice, particularly for women and marginalised communities. She envisions a free and flourishing Africa in which women live their sexuality safely and autonomously and where human rights are fully respected and protected.
Beyond her academic and professional engagements, she is known to be passionate about reading, discovering diverse cultures, and exploring the beauty of the African wilderness. These interests are said to nurture her intellectual curiosity and reinforce her commitment to contributing to Africa’s emergence as a global model of human rights respect and social transformation.
