Maria Birungi Kakinda is a Research Officer with Afya na Haki in the Evidence Generation department.

Maria is a lawyer by training, she obtained her LLB degree from Makerere University, and a Master of Arts in Diplomacy, Law and Global Change from Coventry University (UK), where she graduated with the Highest Distinction at the top of the class.

She has experience in International Health Law and Diplomacy, having supported the Office of the Legal Counsel of the World Health Organization in the Pandemic Treaty process.

She is also currently pursuing the last stage of the Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française.
