Nimrod Muhumuza is a Ugandan legal scholar and human rights advocate, currently Head of Research at Afya na Haki, a regional NGO and academic institute. He is completing his Doctor of Laws at the Dullah Omar Institute, University of the Western Cape, focusing on South Africa’s climate response from a children’s rights perspective.

He holds an LL.M. in Human Rights and Democratization in Africa from the University of Pretoria (with distinction, 2018), an LL.B. from Makerere University, and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre.

An enrolled advocate of the High Court of Uganda, Mr. Muhumuza’s research interests include children’s rights, climate justice, constitutional law, secularism and SRHR. He has published on the intersection of religion and the state in Uganda and has over a decade of experience in academia and legal practice. He has taught law at several Ugandan universities and practiced corporate law with major financial institutions.
