Sub-granting
Introduction
The subgranting portifolio provides flexible funding for reproductive justice litigation, guided by local priorities. The sub-granting portfolio supports African organizations and individuals to develop and implement context-specific litigation strategies addressing historical and structural obstacles to reproductive autonomy across the continent.
This robust sub-granting portfolio supports innovative initiatives responding to declining donor commitments, competing global priorities, and growing political resistance to gender equality, factors that have drastically constrained resources and disrupted reproductive justice programmes on the continent.
The sub-grants primarily fund Strategic Litigation (SL) and Public Interest Litigation (PIL), along with legal support, including rapid legal responses for individuals facing the criminal justice system due to seeking or providing SRHR services. Sub-grants also support research and documentation that is critical for establishing a solid base for the proposed litigation initiatives.
