This paper examines the intricate connections between climate change and reproductive injustices in Africa through a distinctly Africentric lens. Recognising that climate change acts as a potent threat multiplier, exacerbating pre-existing structural inequalities rooted in colonialism, patriarchy, and socioeconomic deprivation, the research highlights how these factors disproportionately compromise African women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
The study situates Reproductive Justice within Africa’s unique socio-political and cultural contexts, critiquing dominant Western framings and emphasising Indigenous knowledge systems, philosophies such as Ubuntu, and African feminist frameworks as transformative alternatives.
